For the past five years I have been in Hollywood trying to make a living as a working actor. At first, I had dreams and aspirations of being the next Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise or George Clooney. I set the bar high, yet I started at the lowest point possible – I was doing non-union background work for $54 for eight hours of work. I hardly cracked $15,000 my first year in L.A. and times were lean, I was living in a small 500 square foot apartment and I barely had enough money for meals. I slowly climbed the ladder and got into SAG and AFTRA – the two main actor’s unions. My earnings began to rise and I was fortunate to get some small one line roles in movies like Collateral with Tom Cruise and Mr. and Mrs. Smith with. (you can find my name in the credits of both of these films.) After that, I started booking principal roles in commercials and the last few years my earnings have climbed over $80,000 per year. (I am not boasting – just letting you know that it was a tough climb and the fact that I stuck with acting, rewarded me in the end.) I may never reach Brad Pitt status (or even Howie Mandell status!) but acting has been very good to me.

The funny thing is, I just started my Residuals and Royalties blog a month ago and I realized that the blogging world is very similar to the acting world. My blog is just starting to get some traffic, but I feel like I did when I was starting out in acting and living in that 500 square foot apartment. You might say that Alan Liew, Carl Ocab and Grizzly are the Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise and George Clooneys of the blogging world. (maybe slightly less handsome however) Of course, I would love to be on page one for “make money online” – but the task seems as tough as becoming a famous actor. So my intentions are to work diligently at my blog and post quality content each day in hopes that my blog can create a nice source of supplemental income for me and my family.

While you may never see me at the Oscars on the red carpet, maybe someday I will share page one with Alan, Carl and Griz!

The way to survive the recession is to simply have multiple streams of income. There is no other way around this. The reason behind why I say this is the job market is terrible. A lot of the Fortune 500 companies are laying people off left and right. So where is the stability? Where is the security? Nowadays, there is no such thing as "job security" or "job stability". We all know that working a nine to five job, Monday through Friday does not pay the bills sufficiently. Even if it does pay the bills, what money do you have left over??? We are starting to live in a fierce financial world where the economy is terrible. But even though the economy may be at an all time low, are we suppose to "throw in the towel"? Do we give up? No, it simply means that we must work harder towards finding other means of making money and generating income.

If you noticed, some of the most richest people in the world are the ones that actually have multiple streams of income online. They are quietly raking in a six to seven figure income a month. It seems like they are making money hand over fist, like it "grows on trees", right? Uncovering Untapped Niches

1. Sign up for an account at AffilateAlert.com. There are two editions. The standard edition is free. The Professional one is not. Both will alert you every time a new product is added to the Clickbank Marketplace. You will be alerted two weeks after a product has been introduced with the Standard edition, while you will be notified immediately with the Professional edition.

Knowing what new products are added to Clickbank will give you a jump start on other affiliates. A lot of times you will find some fantastic products before anyone else does. You will also discover some products that are not necessarily main stream but which can still make you a lot of money. In most cases, authors spend a lot of time figuring if they have a market for the product. They won’t waste their time and/or money on developing a product that no one wants. To make sure, do some additional research to ensure that a particular niche is profitable.

2. Take 30 minutes everyday and look through the Clickbank marketplace. Now, this will require some grunt work. However, it can pay off big. Look through the categories and sub-categories that aren’t incredibly popular with affiliate marketers. Remember, when I told you that most people start off trying to promote the same products. It’s true. They will go after the most popular markets and leave the lesser known ones alone. If you can figure out what these untapped but still lucrative niches are, you can make some good money pretty quickly.

3. Go to Wordtracker or your favorite keyword research tool and type in the following phrases (not all at once of course), “How to,” “Buy,” and “Natural Remedies.” You will find that you get a robust list of potential products. Now, the only thing that you need to do is go to the Clickbank marketplace and see if there is a good product to promote.

Here are three simple ways to discover untapped niches. Remember, the most difficult way to try to make money online is to jump into competitive niches. In most cases, you will end up disappointed and your pockets a little lighter due to unsuccessful advertising campaigns. This is a common mistake that many new internet marketers. Don’t let this be you. Instead, find markets that not too many people have entered. This will give you the best opportunity to have some success. While there is no guarantee that a certain product will be a winner. There are number of factors that will determine whether or not a product sells. However, you have a far greater chance of success, especially if you don’t have to worry about high pay-per-click costs, with smaller more obscure niches.

Bidvertiser: A Smart Alternative to Google Adsense

We all know that placing ads on your blog can make you a substantial amount of money. When it comes to choosing the company most people choose Google Adsense because of its popularity and consistency. However, I have found that Bidvertiser is also a good alternative to Google Adsense.

Reasons I like Bidvertiser

1. Bidvertiser's payout is only $10 which is a lot better than Adsense's $100. This allows people to receive payment more frequently. Many blogs take a while to generate $100 dollars in earnings so $10 looks more friendly is easier to achieve.

So how does knowing this help you? It helps you because it lets you change your question from... "What's the best way to make money online?" to "What's the best way for ME to make money online?"
